April is cherry blossom time in
Howard County, and Blossoms
of Hope’s annual pink season
brings a month-long celebration.
Close to 1,700 (and counting)
beautiful pink Kwanzan cherry
trees blossom in parks, along
roadways and at attractions
throughout the county.

Maryland Sheep &
Wool Festival
The largest sheep and wool
show in the U.S. features
yarn and fiber arts materials,
shearing, spinning, weaving,
working sheep dogs, sheep
and goat breed shows,
gourmet lamb and more.
Preakness® Celebration
Hot Air Balloon Festival
at Turf Valley
Turf Valley brightens the skies and
illuminates the night as the host
of the long-running Preakness®
Balloon Festival. This three-day
festival offers spectators the
chance to enjoy the wonder of
hot air balloons, specialty crafts,
entertainment and good food.
Wine in the Woods
One of the premiere events
in the region and a source
of pride for Howard County,
Wine in the Woods was voted
Best Annual Festival in the
county by Howard Magazine.
Live music, food and tastings
from 35 Maryland wineries.
JUNE
Capital Jazz Fest
Capital Jazz Fest is a weekend of
cool jazz and soul. This multi-day,
multi-stage outdoor music festival
is more than just a concert.
Haunted Howard County:
Ghost Tours
The lady of Tonge Row, the Civil War
solider who stalks the lower end of Main
Street, the vigilant firefighter of Station 2,
the children of the mill and many more
invite you to hear their stories. Three
different and unique tours now available.

Paint It: Ellicott City, A
Juried Plein Air Paint-out
Artists from around the
globe return every summer
to paint the picturesque
streets and hillsides of Old
Ellicott City in a three-day
outdoor “paint-out.”
